The story of the Third Battle of Ypres - known as Passchendaele - was told to Marlow residents on Sunday at a poignant commemoration ceremony.
The Marlow Remembers WWI Association, together with the Marlow Society, staged a free display to remember the historic battle at the war memorial on The Causeway on July 30.
The actual attack began on July 31, 1917, near the village of Passchendaele in Belgium and lasted three months - costing the lives of some 300,000 allied soldiers including a number of local men.
The commemoration was opened by Marlow mayor, Cllr Jocelyn Towns, at 11am.
Following a wreath laying and sounding of The Last Post, a guided walk took place around the town, identifying relevant structures and buildings.
