Hundreds of people are expected to flock to a popular annual carnival in Marlow this month, which will feature two celebrity guests.

The Marlow Carnival, which has been a part of the community for around 30 years, will return to Higginson Park on September 16, with television favourites Sandra Martin, from Channel 4’s Gogglebox and CBeebies’ Nisha Anil.

Organisers Marlow Community Association said last year’s carnival was a “roaring” success with record numbers of people enjoying a whole new range of events and activities.

Lindsay Robinson, part of the Marlow Carnival organising committee said this year, the carnival will be reinstating the children’s parade in the High Street, which she said has not happened for around 10 years.

She said: “It’s a brilliant re-introduction for this community event.

“[The carnival] is a very, very popular event. We raise funds to maintain the Liston Hall, which is used by a large part of the community.”

Visitors will also be treated to classic cars, a mini funfair, BBQ and music.

Organisers are hoping this year’s turnout will be even bigger than previous years’.
