Fears have been raised that a listed building in Little Marlow could fall into disrepair after plans to turn it into a gastropub were thrown out amid concerns over parking.

Developers wanted to expand The King’s Head, in Church Road – which closed in March this year – but the plans were binned by Wycombe District Council in August following opposition from residents and Little Marlow Parish Council.

Representing The White Brasserie Co, Paul van Zijl said at the time that the £1 million development would “breathe new life” into the pub and prevent further deterioration of the Grade-II listed building.

Speaking at a Marlow Community Forum meeting this week, secretary Jo Braybrook said she was worried the 17th century pub would go into disrepair if nothing was done to it.

She said: “It’s a shame really because it’s going to go into disrepair if we’re not careful.”

The proposals outlined 28 parking spaces for the development, including two for staff, but were refused due to a “limited number of parking spaces available” for the site.
