A popular festive charity fun run has sold out in record time.

All 2,500 available places on the Marlow Santa Fun Run have been allocated, with organisers saying the target number was achieved in record time.

The annual event will see thousands of people stream through Marlow in a sea of red, with runners dressed both as Santa Claus and Santa’s little helpers, on Sunday, December 3.

Organised by the Rotary Clubs of Marlow, the run raised around £35,000 for local charities last year, and organisers are hoping this year’s run will top that with £40,000.

Fun run chairman David Sutherland said: “This is a fantastic achievement, and the take up has yet again been at its fastest ever level.

“A big thank you from the Rotary Clubs of Marlow to all who have secured their places, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the morning of the run.

“We apologise to those who have missed the chance to run – but this event is also a great spectator event.

“The Marlow Jam Theatre Company are entertaining people on the High Street after runners have passed by, and of course the whole event is a great opportunity for a family morning in the town.”

Mr Sutherland is now encouraging the runners to raise money for the clubs’ chosen charities by visiting www.santasfunrun.org.

The run will start at Higginson Park at 9.30am and road closures will be in place at various points between 9.25am and 11am on the morning of the race.
