A new “butcher-pub” in Marlow is set to welcome punters this week.
Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge’s latest venture in the town, The Butcher’s Tap, will open its doors to the public on Friday.
It comes as new signage was being put up last week, with workmen putting the finishing touches on the building.
The former O’Donoghues, in Spittal Street, has been transformed into a fully-functioning butchers and pub in one, after the two Michelin-starred chef took over the popular sports club.
It will operate as a butchers during the day and from 5pm onwards, will turn into a pub offering “simple, meat-led” food, with beers on tap, as well as wine, spirits and community nights.
A campaign was launched in February this year to save the “quintessential British boozer” from becoming a gastropub.
Mr Kerridge has partnered with friend and butcher Andy Cook, and brewers Greene King, for the venture, which will be his third in the town following successes at West Street eateries The Hand and Flowers and The Coach.
A Greene King spokesman said: “The Butcher’s Tap will be a welcoming hub for the local community where people can meet for a drink, a bite to eat, and buy well-sourced quality meat to take home.”
