Two cats were found “mutilated” in Marlow last week.

South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty – SNARL – confirmed that the animals were found on March 14 and 23.

It comes after the grisly remains of a white and ginger cat were discovered in Sandygate Road, near the Marlow Day Nursery and Marlow CofE Infant School, on Friday.

SNARL warned cat owners to keep their pets indoors at night and asked for rabbits, guinea pigs and other outdoor animals to be moved indoors if possible in light of the M25 cat killer, who has thought to have killed hundreds of animals in the past few years – mainly cats, but also rabbits and foxes – and is still believed to be on the loose.

The animal rescue group has now said it was waiting for veterinary confirmation that the wounds on the first cat were inflicted by a “human being”, and needed to attend the second incident before confirming it.

It said both incidents had been reported to the police and confirmed neither victim’s family wanted to be identified.

The group said in a statement: “If anyone has any information which they feel is likely to be relevant, please contact police on 101.

“If you do not wish to talk to police, you can speak to us in confidence.

“Our thoughts are with both families as they come to terms with their loss.

“Rest in peace little ones.”
