ANOTHER major accident caused havoc on the M40 this evening as three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a ten vehicle-smash.

The crash happened at around 5.30pm between junctions 2 and 1a of the southbound carriageway.

One lorry, two vans and seven cars were thought to be involved.

There was a partial closure on the southbound carriageway and the slip roads at junction three and four were closed. Vehicles on the motorway were urged to use the hard shoulder at one stage.

The crash is the latest in a long line of accidents on the south Bucks stretch of the motorway.

Seven people have been killed on that stretch alone since May 31 this year.
