Argos and New Look open today
JUST a week after Eden's grand opening, Wycombe's shoppers will be able to spend their hard earned cash in two new shops today.
The brand new Argos store in Wycombe Retail Park, on London Road, will open this morning. As part of its launch celebration it will be giving one lucky shopper the chance to win £500 worth of Argos vouchers.
Shaun Thomas, store manager, said: "Opening the new store today is really exciting for us. It allows us the opportunity to bring our customers the added convenience of purchasing locally, with a wide choice of products all at great value."
The shop will also be fundraising for Leukaemia Research, as part of a chain wide effort across all its stores to raise £400,000 this year.
And in Eden itself the new, improved New Look store will finally open its doors at 9am, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The shop, which is larger than the old one that once stood in the Octagon Centre, will feature a larger selection of the "Inspire" clothing range.

Why don't they just call it EDEN - Wycombe's biggest clothing store.

So, what's replacing Argos in the High Street and New Look in the old Octagon? Banks? Estate Agents? Pound shops? Just seems like everyone's shifting from one end of town to the other...

Woo I can barely contain my excitement, Argos and New Look.. I've been waiting for them to move their wares into bigger premises for years... yawn.

Or, indeed, are the old shops remaining and we lucky Wycombers have TWO places to choose from when we want to buy cheap jewellery and miniskirts?

God don't say that!! I don't want two New Looks, I mean jesus, the choices! I would quite like to know what is going to move into places where other shops have vacated. I can't find anything about more new shops, or indeed when shops that we have been promised will open.

Are we really meant to be excited about a brand new Argos store or even worse a larger New Look. Where are the new shops or is that too much to ask?!

If you're a teenager I think New Look will be great for them....at least it's affordable!
As for the larger Argos I certainly welcome it....more choices!
You lot love moaning innit!;)

No, I dont love to moan! I have to admit, some of the new shops are great, I just want to know if we are going to have two of everything or if the old shops will change as well.

The olds shops will either have closed already or be eventually phased out. What will happens to the old units/shops that will be more frightening I think.

Another clothing shop for the complex! Does “New Look” cater for the over 40’s? Do they have a range for pensioners?
Sadly the new Argos is out of town. Oh dear. Argos is the nearest Wycombe has to a “real” department store and the big branch is going to be out of town. Another blow for shopping in Wycombe.

Ivor, I'm sure you can find some clothes if you look hard enough, there's Next, which caters for all ages, Marks and Spencers which certainly caters for the older generation, not to mention a variety of other shops. Stop whinging. And since when was Argos a real department store???

I remember, as a boy, my father and I taking the family pet for a walk across the Rye, and as Flopsy slivered about, his fluffy horn digging through the dew-bejewelled grass for his favourite grubs, a mournful noise came a-quacking through the mist.
“What’s that, Papa?” I exclaimed.
“Is a duck.” replied the ol’ fella.
“How d’ya know that?” says I,
“Ah, my son, let me into one of life’s great secrets.” spoke he, “There are something’s in this life that sound exactly like what they are, so if it sounds like a duck, then it’s a duck…
…the same is can be said of an idiot!”

With the move of premium shopping outlets to Eden. Now is the time for local entrepreneurs to reclaim the high street with local, organic and personalise shopping experiences.
Just imagine one of those people could be one of you. If you stopped moaning and got off your **** if you felt that passionately about it.
[bold]I've been in Wycombe today. Read all about it in my pathetic little blog.[/bold]

Actually I think the Argos move is great. The old location was a complete pain to get to when you needed to pick something up. Being at Wycombe Marsh is ideal.

I have good knowledge that the Old New Look shop will be taken over by Clarkes show shop. But I dont know what the Old Clarke shoe shop will become. This is great for wycombe shoppers, lets just pretend we got 100 new shops by moving all the old ones around !!!!!!

It is progress, but what about the future of the town centre? The High Street is so important to the town, what's going to happen to the empty shops- Argos kept up the footfall in the High Street in a major way...
