Eight-feet robot sings to shoppers

SHOPPERS out to get their newspaper today were joined by an unlikely guest.

People visiting the new Co-op store, in Park Parade, Hazlemere, were treated to two shows by entertainment act Titan the Robot.

The eight-feet robot and his companion The Man in Black welcomed shoppers with all singing, all dancing performances.

Frank Sinatra's My Way was just one of the songs greeting the visitors.

But joy and laughter were not felt by everyone.

Claire Lgubisic, who lives in Fox Road, Holmer Green, took her two children, Ana, 7, and Luke, 9, and Luke's friend Oliver Gilbert, 9, to the store to see the show especially.

Mrs Lgubisic said: "I think it is brilliant. We have seen it before in Uxbridge and my daughter enjoyed it but this time she was terrified."

Ana, who attends Holmer Green Junior School, said: "It scared me a bit. It scared me more this time because he was closer."

Oliver, who also attends the junior school, said: "I think it looks a bit like Terminator, but I enjoyed it."

The performances were part of the launch celebrations of the new shop, which used to be Hazlemere Foodhall.

Michelle Bartlett, head of marketing at Co-op, said: "This is the first time we have had it in the store and the kids loved it and so did the dads as well."
