Lambert hails free-kick king
WANDERERS boss Paul Lambert hailed dead-ball king Stefan Oakes after his free kick at Morecambe earned the Blues three more vital promotion points yesterday afternoon.
Oakes stroked the ball home from 30-yards after on loan Aston Villa superkid Chris Herd had been bundled over by Morecambe hardman Danny Adams.
Lambert purred: "That was a goal worthy of winning any game.
"It was a brilliant free-kick from a player whose left foot is second to none.
"Whenever he lines one up from there I always think it has got a chance of going in. He is always capable of doing things like that."
Oakes' strike kept Wanderers on course for the play-offs at least and kept Lambert's dream of automatic promotion flickering.
Lambert said: "This is a huge result for us at a place where it is not easy to get results. We are still well in the mix."
