A TEENAGER who threatened to shoot his stepfather in the head has been jailed for 15 months.
Oliver Namyslak, 18, held a gun-shaped cigarette lighter to Peter Chilton's head after he asked him to leave the family home.
Prosecutor Catherine Moore said Namyslak had a history of violence and was convicted of causing actual bodily harm after attacking Mr Chilton on Christmas Day 2006.
She told Reading Crown Court: "He was staying with his mother and step-father.
"His step-father made it known he did not want him in the family home any more and there was a confrontation.
"He left but returned later that afternoon."
Namyslak, of Misbourne Avenue, High Wycombe threatened to smash up' Mr Chilton's car and approached him as he put Namyslak's possessions outside the house on January 18 this year.
She said: "He reached into a rubbish bin and produced a handgun and pointed it at his face."
The 18-year-old mocked Mr Chilton for shaking' and said you're going to be smoke, you're going to be kidnapped'.
Miss Moore added that at that point Namyslak's mother pointed out that the gun was not real and was a cigarette lighter made to look like a pistol.
Michael Roques, defending, told Judge Ann Campbell his client admitted his guilt immediately.
He said: "This was an incident which had a lot to do with a difficult family background."
He said: "Mr Chilton was not entirely blameless.
"However, since the offence my client has applied to complete an anger management course.
"He is aware he will be in custody but also plans to begin an NVQ to learn some skills for when he is released."
Sentencing Namyslak for possession of an imitation firearm, Judge Campbell told him: "You took what appeared to be a gun. Your victim was clearly terrified by what he saw.
"You held the gun to his face, he didn't know it was an imitation.
"I take into consideration the background to the incident - but you have a long history of previous convictions."
He was sentenced to 15 months detention in a Young Offenders' Institute.
