Run for charity tomorrow and Brian Conley will be there

FIT fundraisers will don their running shoes for charity at the Gerrards Cross fun run tomorrow.

Families are being encouraged to show up in force to cheer on runners at the village's biggest fundraiser.

The bi-annual event, which has raised more than £125,000 to date, will see TV entertainer Brian Conley making an appearance.

Julia Cumming, a member of the organising committee, said: "It's a really lovely family day out. It's not just the run. In addition there's lots of stalls, entertainment, and fun things for children."

Mrs Cumming added people should not eat before they come as Indian food, a barbecue and strawberries and cream will be on offer.

She added: "Brian Conley will be helping out with the warm up and will be having a beer in the beer tent. He is putting the fun into it."

This year funds will be going to the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Sunrise cancer unit at Wycombe Hospital.

The day starts with entertainment stalls opening from 11am with the five kilometre race starting at noon from the Memorial Centre in East Common. There will also be a series of races for children starting at 1.30pm on the common later in the day.

Road closures will be in place on Sunday. The affected roads will be East Common Road, Marsham Lane, Oak End Way, Woodlands, Mill Lane, Hill Crest Waye, Hill Waye and Woodhall Avenue from 11.30am for about ninety minutes. They will reopen as the final runners complete the course.
