Wanderers boss considers future after play-off heartbreak

WANDERERS' boss Paul Lambert could be heading out of Adams Park following this evening's play-off semi-final defeat at Stockport County.

It looks very much as though the defeat, which ended Wanderers' Wembley hopes, may be the last game for the former Champions League winner.

He said he was going away to think about his future following Blues' 1-0 defeat at Edgeley Park which deprived his team of a showpiece Wembley final.

He said:"I don't know what I am going to do. I need to have a few days to go away and think about it."

In his two years at the helm, Lambert has guided the Blues to Carling Cup semi-final and the League Two Play-off semi-final.

He said: "Let me get these few days out of the way and I will think about what I'm going to do.

"I really don't know at this moment in time. Football is an emotional game.

"I roughly know what I'm going to do. It is not just this game, there are loads of things going through my brain at the minute. I'll take a few days and then I will let the right people know."

It was a shock to the players.

Defender Russell Martin said: "I just hope he stays because he has been brilliant for this club."

One word answer "STAY"
explanation - It will come right and all fall into place. You and the rest of the team are good enough. just stop the powers that be selling our best assets.

COME ON FOLKS, LETS USE THIS AS A FORUM TO GET BEHIND PAUL AND THE TEAM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE ACHIEVED. IT'S EASY TO FORGET, THAT DESPITE THE DISAPPOINTMENT TONIGHT, THAT WITHOUT SOMEBODY LIKE PAUL AT THE HELM, WE COULD HAVE SO EASILY HAVE BEEN AT THE OTHER END OF THE TABLE. LET'S GET BEHIND OUR TEAM .

I am surprised at his comments surely he is not contemplating leaving after all the hard work that has gone on. Come on Lambert be bold and stand up and stay you are stronger than that letting losing get to you.

let's just hope it's a result of tonight's disappointment and after he's slept on it, he will realise that he has just been a little unlucky and that greater things are just around the corner.
As soon as i know Paul is staying, y money will be going on automatic promotion next season

He has to stay. Best manager since martin O'neill. He showed so much passion especially when he ran onto the pitch to bring the ball back, PLEASE STAY LAMBERT !!!

Paul Lambert has got to the end of the season with a really good team. Stick with it and they have every chance of promotion next season.

I hope he stays

We should have gone up automatically and not needed the play offs.

At last, somebody said it. Good man Marmite.

The only reason this article has gone out is to massage Lambert's ego:

Oh please don't go Paul, please, please etc...

Call the f*ckers bluff, he belongs in a part time non-league set up.
