Deadline for last ditch attempt to stop Wellesbourne homes
TOMORROW is the deadline for campaigners to apply for a judicial review against a Government decision to build 238 new homes on Wellesbourne Campus.
The controversial development at the former university site in Kingshill Road was rejected by Wycombe District Council's Development Control Committee.
But after developer George Wimpey appealed the council's decision, secretary of state Hazel Blears announced her decision last month that the homes could be built.
An application to build 400 houses on the nearby Terriers Farm site, also in Kingshill Road, was refused.
The Department for Communities and Local Government based its decision on information heard during a public inquiry on the proposals.
A judicial review would see campaigners challenge the decision to allow the Wellesbourne Campus development at the High Court.
It is the only way the development can now be opposed.
Widmer End Residents Association and parish councils in Widmer End and Hughenden have strongly objected to the plans to build new homes at Wellesbourne.

How much did Mr Wimpey pay Hazel Blears to reverse the decision? Why should the Government be allowed to reverse decisions that have been reviewed and made by Local Government? All stinks of Labour Party backhanders if you ask me!

Guys, know one thing about WDC:
When they are face with a politically sensitive planning decision, very often they will reject it and then surprise surprise an old contact at the Planning Inspectorate will overturn the rejection.
This is a high profile case, involving the Secretary of State, but WDC and Blears had this strategy worked out months back!
Many residents will be thinking how great WDC are now for rejecting the plan, but they are up to their necks in dirty little tricks.

Why can't any of you accept that it was the right decision?
There is plenty of development going on in and around High Wycombe and why should some toffs living on a hill next to the school get preferential treatment? WDC approved the Terriers School site development, didn't they? Why is Wellesbourne so different?
One of the main objections to the Wellesbourne development was extra traffic on the roads but objectors did not recognise that there were plenty of traffic movements already from staff and students at the campus.
WDC has already wasted loads of taxpayers money going to Appeal and I hope they don't waste more of our money going for a judicial review!
