A MAN was injured when the car in which he was travelling hit a tree.

A male driver of a blue Vauxhall Calibra suffered a head injury after the car hit a tree in Maxwell Road, Beaconsfield, at around 8.30pm last night.

The car landed on the pavement outside the entrance to The Curzon Centre.

A resident, who did not want to be named, said: "I heard a bang. It was pretty bad and it was just lucky that no one was walking down the pavement."

Another said she spotted two fire engines, four police cars and an ambulance in the street.

She said: "Upside down and smashed up like that you'd have thought no one would walk away from that."

Police spokesman Marianne Shaw said police closed the road until around 11pm.

The driver of the car was taken to Wexham Park Hospital by ambulance.

Do you know the driver of the car?

"A MAN was injured when the car in which he was travelling hit a tree."

There's just something about that first sentence which strikes me as odd. Why MAN in capitals, like shock, a MAN was travelling in a car which then suddenly hit a tree!! Like the car decided, I know let's hit this tree.

Looking at the picture the car must have flipped a fair few times to get into that kind of mess, probably NOT a 30mph crash indeed. I certainly couldn't identify the driver of that car by the picture. I'm amazed the MAN walked away though.

I know that road very well, and it is a 30 limit... pity idiots use it as a race track.
It does have 'traffic calming' but all that does is forces traffic into the centre of the road, causing many close or actual head on collisions.
this is one road, where the traffic calming should be removed, and replaced by speed cameras.

btw kazza, the tree is unwell... it has lost a lot of its bark, but at least it still has more sense than the driver!

thank goodness the tree still has some sense. Although it has lost it's bark, i hope it has retained it's bite!
