APPRENTICE winner Lee McQueen has called in sick for his first day of work.

The Princes Risborough businessman was due to start his new £100,000 a year job working for Alan Sugar yesterday, but phoned to say that he was suffering from a "flu-like virus".

Mr McQueen reportedly fell ill while travelling in Spain with his girlfriend last week.

The 30-year-old milk man's son won The Apprentice reality TV show despite having lied and made spelling mistakes on his CV.

Mr McQueen also made a come back from an embarrassing incident in which he performed his "reverse pterodactyl" routine in an interview situation.

The technique, which Mr McQueen uses to lighten the mood in an office, involved him spinning his arms and squawking in front of his bemused interviewer.

If Lee can’t make it perhaps I could step in and show them how things should be done? I’m sure I have the skills and talents necessary for the job....

Will the Bucks Free Press be reporting on everyone who phones in sick?
Journalistic standards have certainly reached an all time low.

There were lots of amusing comments on the radio about this guy yesterday. Various quotes about him being drunk most of his holiday (from eyewitnesses). If I were his manager, then unless he is on his deathbed or suffering from a contagious disease I would expect him to make it in to work. Most people would cut off a limb for a £100k job.

I think that might impair their ability to do the job somewhat... (Unless they are one of those amputee stunt doubles in movies who have a fake arm blown off...)
