A HOMEOWNER may be forced to demolish an extension after his retrospective planning permission was refused tonight.
South Bucks District Council's planning committee voted unanimously to turn down an application for a first floor side extension by on a house in Woodhill Avenue, Gerrards Cross.
More than 30 nearby homeowners wrote letters of objection to the plans, some claiming the extension in the residential area of exceptional character' was intrusive and overbearing'.
Planning officers recommended permission be granted prior to the councillors' decision.
A previous application was turned down in February last year.
Councillor Deirdre Holloway said: "This is extraordinary because as far as I can see someone has had an application turned down.
"It has been turned down and they have gone ahead and built it anyway."
She added: "I think it's really bad for all the people who put in planning permission and wait to get it."
Councillors heard the owner may choose to appeal the decision or be asked to take it down.
