A FAMILIAR Princes Risborough pub is set to be formally relaunched tonight under a new name, and with new food on the menu.

The pub, in Wycombe Road, was formerly known as The Black Prince, but will now be known as The Poppy Seed.

it will be serving Indian food as well as a more traditional British bar menu.

Guests, including the town mayor, have been invited to tonight's relaunch to see it's new start in style.

Abdul Munif, proprieter said: "The place needed a lift off. Hopefully there should be something for everyone."

I would very much like to see a themed pub open that has a selection of local real ales, no music, no telly, no infernal fruit machines, maybe a nice lager for the lady's and a pot of stew on the wood burning stove if anyone gets peckish. It could have skittles, darts, billiards, cribbage boards and a large tippit table for games, where needed, and maybe a landlord instead of a manager.

A pub themed pub, if you will.

Couldn't agree more Elmo - except you forgot to mention the need for a buxom barmaid.

From all the positive articles recently, sounds like the town itself is being formally relaunched.

Is an 'Edenette' in the offing?

You could call the town Prisborough & save on two syllables.

It probably still gonna be a dive though as all the old clientele will still frequent the place and make it look just as bad as it did before.

Great News, I hope it is a success. I went to the open evening tonight & enjoyed the taster menu + good beer & wine. The new owners are very keen to please & deserve to do well. I also look forward to trying the bar menu soon. This should be seen as a new business and not just the old pub re-branded.

There is a new British Legion club in Princes Risborough. I recommend you check it out, it has pretty much everything you have mentioned.
I went to a dry run on Sunday with my boyfriend and loved it, it's on Bell Street and opens properly tomorrow.
