A MAN wearing running shorts pushed a woman to the floor and stamped on her arm until he had her handbag in Chesham.

The 45-year-old was approached from behind and assaulted at 5am yesterday at Waterside, Chesham.

Police are hunting a male in his late teens to early 20s.

A statement from Thames Valley Police said: "At approximately 5am, a 45-year-old woman was walking along Waterside, Chesham, when a male approached her from behind and tried to take her handbag.

"The offender kicked and pushed the woman, causing her to fall to the floor.

"He continued to tug at the bag and eventually stamped on her arm, causing her to let go of the bag.

"The offender then made off with the handbag, heading away from Chesham town centre into Waterside."

The man was slim, white, aged 19 to 20 with light brown to blond hair.

He was wearing a light blue hooded top, black trainers and shorts cut off at the top of the thigh.

Ok, so 5am seems strange, but then again, why should'nt she?

It is a free country after all. As long as we dont let these scumbags off lightly when we DO catch them we might not turn the streets over to them.

Then again I'm sorry to say they'll probably just get yet another stern talking too... and a free day on the taxpayer to get in touch with themselves and find the unfortunate stories behind the misery of being a criminal.

Yeah Right!

Of course they could always do what the PCSO's are doing in Holtspur, and hand out forms for the residents to fill in about the local trouble.

Don't forget to post them in 1st class though, so they have a decent chance of catching up with them!
