MORE than 25 vehicles were seized in a police crackdown on drivers in High Wycombe.
Offences included driving without insurance or driving in an anti-social manner.
The operation targetted areas including Green Road, Lucas Road, Totteridge Lane, Hicks Farm Rise and Hillary Road following concerns raised with the area's Neighbourhood Action Group.
A speeding crackdown on August 7 resulted in all motorists travelling above 36 miles per hour being pulled over and given warnings.
The offending drivers were asked what would stop them speeding in the future.
A number of speeding motorists were given £60 fines and three points, while others were reported to court or arrested for driving without a licence or driving while disqualified, police said.
A total of 25 speed indicator device operations have been conducted in Bowerdean and Totteridge since June, in what police describe as a non-threatening way' to encourage drivers to slow down.
Road signs have been put up in Amersham Hill and road markings have been repainted in Green Road to improve safety.
PSCO Emma Buckle said: "We've been working really hard to address the problem priorities that were identified at the NAG meeting and we've been successful in clamping down on speeding and anti-social vehicle use."
She added: "As a team we like to feel we are always on hand to help with any issues the public may have, whether it is tackling problems such as speeding or giving general directions. Feel free to stop us when you see us."

Feel free to stop us when you see us.Sounds more like the slogan of an ice cream man rather than a force upholding the law!

only a warning for up to 36mph??? I wish i had been give for a warning when i got stung on marlow hill a few years back at 33mph - i think its a good idea though - raises awareness, and makes people think about their speed. Good on them for listening to the residents and doing something about it. Nb. You dont need speed humps on bowerdean, its so pot holed i can only do 20mph at best!

Wonder how many police officers are trying to catch the armed robbers who hit Chalfont and Beaconsfield recently? Or is driving at 6 mph over the limit more important?

I do have to question the intelligence of some people who makes comments here. It seems to me that people think that there are only 5 police officers in Wycombe and that in some strange way they would have caught a rapist if they'd not been targetting drivers. These type of operations are planned well in advance, they do not take rank and file officers off of the beat (not that there are many of them) as it's costed at overtime rates.
