AN ELEVEN-year-old boy has died after suffering an asthma attack while at a water sports activity day.

Joe Cronin was taking part in the event at Longridge Activity Centre in Quarry Wood Road, Marlow.

The boy was having lunch with a group of other children when he suffered the attack.

He tried to use his inhaler to calm his breathing. But he found this was not helping him and asked Longridge staff to help.

They attempted to stabilise his breathing while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

He was taken to Wexham Park hospital by air ambulance but later died.

A statement issued by Longridge commercial director Amanda Foister reads: "The staff at Longridge, the organisers of the holiday and the medical staff who attended did all they could to help Joe.

"Longridge extends its sincerest sympathies to Joe's family."

Very sad indeed. I have an 11 year old son who suffers from asthma, albeit fairly mild. He also uses an inhaler and spent a day at Longridge only a couple of months back.... When I read the headline it sent a shiver down my spine.

RIP.
