TWO lanes of the northbound carriageway of the M40 are currently closed to traffic after a caravan overturned.

The incident happened between junctions 1A, for the M25, and 2, Beaconsfield, shortly after 2pm.

The two lanes nearest the central reservation are closed while the caravan is recovered and put upright again.

The motorway is expected to re-open before the evening rush hour.

No-one was hurt in the incident.

You two have no knowledge of what happened to cause the accident. The caravan could have been clipped by a passing car, lorry or hit by a crosswind, it is not necessarily the person who is towings fault.

I am just glad that no-one was hurt, it was probably a terrifying experience for the people in the car towing the caravan.

No one was hurt. That's good.

Will the driver be prosecuted? How about a fine of £10,000 to go towards the costs of the Highways Agency and/or TVP?

Dig deeper Andy. Your readers are enthralled.

Not saying that this is the cause of this particular crash, but hopw often have we seen caravans swinging from side to side whilst the driver goes at 70 mph unaware.

Agreed. Cars towing caravans are limited to 60mph on the Motorway. I have been overtaken many a time by some muppet in their Range Rover doing 80mph+.

overturned caravan? I drove past the accident and the caravan was facing in the right direction and right side up, (Although it had ripped the bottom out of the back!) The Land Rover towing the caravan was laying on its side across the two lanes!
