WANDERERS boss Peter Taylor has made a cash bid to bring a League One striker to Adams Park.
He is now waiting to see if his offer is accepted before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Taylor said: "It is up to them now. We have made an offer to the club and I don't want to go any higher with it.
"If they accept our value that's great, if not there are a couple of other people we can look to."
Taylor has already boosted his striking options this week with the capture of Reading reserve striker Simon Curch on a month's loan and the man he is after now is a targetman to complete his squad.
He does not expect any deal to go through in time for tomorrow's clash at Chesterfield where Wanderers will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
And Taylor won't panic if the transfer does not come off at all.
Although the transfer window closes on September 1, the loan market re-opens soon after and Taylor says he will use that if he has to.
He said: "I'm not going to be pushed into doing what I don't want to do or into paying more than I want. I treat the club's finances as though it is my own money."
Wanderers are short on numbers up front having released striker John Sutton after his barren spell in England and terminating the contract of Leon Knight.
Sutton scored on his debut for Motherwell on Saturday while Leon Knight has joined Conference side Rushden and Diamonds.
