DROVES of villagers enjoyed all the usual fun of a village fête when they went to the Penn and Tylers Green event.
Traditional customs such as the coconut shy and smash the crockery proved as big a hit as ever, said event organiser Adrian Cooper.
Mr Cooper said: "We have had a good day. The human table football was a bit of a success - and the fête attracted a healthy number of people.
"I have lived here for a long time and it's been happening for about 35 years consecutively in different guises. It's a firm date in the diary which people look forward to.
"The best bit is seeing all the community together and the kids enjoy themselves."
Funds raised by the summer fête will go to a variety of Penn and Tylers Green charities.
Helpers at Alde House residential home for the elderly, said the day helped raise awareness of their projects.
Committee member Tim Marshall, 57, of Church Road, Penn, said: "We have done really well. It's the second time we have been here. It's helped us raise awareness of our mission - to provide traditional care for elderly people."
