Intrepid adventurers invited to Sahara trek for hospice charity
3:00pm Monday 26th August 2013 in News
INTREPID adventurers are being invited to trek through the Sahara to help people suffering from terminal illnesses in Bucks.
Channel your globe-trotting side with the The Sahara Desert Trek’s diverse landscapes from snow-capped peaks to Morocco’s gushing rivers. This voyage of a lifetime will raise money for Rennie Grove Hospice Care, a home-care charity supporting adults and children with life-limiting illnesses.
The trip will take place in October 2014 and will be offered to two trekkers, with the opportunity to get involved with a community project in Marrakech.
Trekkers will explore the rocky, Moroccan landscape surrounded by dried up river beds and sand dune fields. The trek starts with 5-8 hours a day spent walking alongside camels through the desert and the chance to experience the culture and cuisine of the local Berber people.
You will be actively helping the local community, by spending two days on a range of tasks such as renovating, redecoration, gardening and painting in Marrakech to improve the lives of its people. There will also be time to embrace the hustle and bustle of the exciting city before flying back to London.
To venture off on this eye-opening trip, you will be required to pay a deposit of £320 to secure your place. You will be asked to raise a minimum of £1,800 to help Rennie Grove Hospice Care provide its services to patients in Herts and Bucks. Flights, accommodation and meals are all included.
