A MAN was arrested following a high speed police chase from Princes Risborough to High Wycombe last night.

Police were alerted to the black VW Touareg – which had been reported as stolen – after it was picked up on Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras in Wycombe Road in Risborough at 8.20pm.

Officers tracked down the vehicle and followed it along the A4010 and West Wycombe Road, before the two occupants jumped out of the car in New Road and fled on foot, police said.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of burglary to bring the 31 minute chase to an end but officers said a second man managed to escape.

The second man is described as about 6ft tall and was wearing a blue or black hooded top with a light coloured motif on the back, officers said.

Reader Kane Tilly took these photos of the alleged stolen vehicle surrounded by police cars in New Road in Sands at about 9pm.

BFP reporter Rebecca Cain was travelling back from a Princes Risborough Town Council meeting when the convoy of cars sped past her on the A4010.

She said: “It’s unusual to see five police cars race past you at that time of night but luckily the roads were quiet. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
