A SEA of lights illuminated a dark, wintry Beaconsfield last week as children with homemade lanterns brought some festive cheer for a well-loved town tradition.

Beaconsfield’s annual Festival of Lights returned bigger and better than ever, with laser light displays adding some extra colour to the event.

As well as the procession through town, a stage on Station Road saw choirs from primary and secondary schools entertain the crowds and instrumental accompaniment from Chalfont Wind Band.

Organising committee member Barry Moxley said: “It was a great event with great participation. We had over 300 children involved which is more than last year and very encouraging.

“The laser light show was fabulous, and gave a real wow factor to the night. It’s a hugely enjoyable night for the town and also a vehicle for charities and businesses to get exposure in front of thousands of people.”

The festival was organised by the Rotary Club of Beaconsfield and sponsored by a number of businesses including De Marsac The Jewellers, Brindley House Childcare Centre, Basmati Indian Restaurant, Oxygen Hair and Universal Care.
