A DRIVER who was four times over the drink drive limit will spend Christmas behind bars after being caught by police twice in three days.

Martin Rakos, 38, from Cock Lane, High Wycombe was stopped by police last Friday in London Road and blew 147 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which is more than four times the legal limit.

This is the highest reading taken so far in the Thames Valley Police drink drive campaign, which started on December 1.

Police had breathalysed him days earlier on December 11 in Cock Lane, where he was also arrested, and blew 139 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath which is almost four times the limit.

He was released on bail before he committed the other offence. He was then kept in custody before appearing at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Monday.

Rakos pleaded guilty to both drink driving charges. He was jailed for 12 weeks and disqualified for four years for driving with excess alcohol on December 13.

For the other offence of being in charge of a vehicle while over the legal limit he was jailed for eight weeks and disqualified for 12 months.

These will run concurrently.

He will get a 25 per cent reduction in his disqualification from driving if he attends a drink drive course.
