RESIDENTS can now order a taxi via a handy smartphone application created by a former Buckinghamshire University student.
Dan Grech, 25, founder of High Wycombe-based Zing Apps, launched the High Wycombe Taxis app on iOS and Google Play stores last month.
The app, powered by Royal Cars and Crown Cars, means residents can now order a taxi with a few taps on their smartphones.
Mr Grech was inspired by a similar app Londoners can use and the tools he learnt on BNU’s music management and marketing course.
He said: “I work in London and do this on the side at the moment, but being from High Wycombe I wanted to launch the first app here.
“There has been a huge spike in convenience apps, such as ordering a takeaway, and now taxis. I often struggle for a signal to make a call for a taxi but I can tap the app and it’s sorted.”
And taxis could be the tip of the iceberg for Mr Grench who is also working on restaurant and council phone programmes.
He said: “You could take a photo of graffiti, tag where it is and send it to the council, for example, I’d really like to work with the councils.”
