AN ARCHAEOLOGY group from Marlow is offering the chance to take a step back in time to retrace maps of the county through the ages.
Marlow Archaeology Society presents ‘A Walk Through Local Maps of Buckinghamshire’ next Thursday, March 13 led by archivist Sarah Charlton.
She will be showing examples of different maps through the centuries, attempting to explain what they show in the context of their times and the reasons for their production.
A map of the village of Boarstall circa 1440, considered to be the earliest local map in the country, is held at the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies at Bucks County Council.
The talk takes place at 8pm in the Garden Room at Liston Hall, Marlow. Entry cost is £2.50 for members, £3.50 for non-members and £1.50 for students.
Free refreshments will be on offer, as well as free parking and disabled access.
