A CHILDREN’S play area which has been swamped in water and dirt since the February floods is expected to be cleaned tomorrow.

A Wycombe District Council contractor will pressure wash the children’s play area on The Rye on Wednesday.

Much of the play area and surrounding parkland was covered in water as The River Wye broke its banks during February’s record rainfall.

WDC said: “We know the play area there is very popular and we understand people don't like it to be out of action.

“With the recent floods we have had to prioritise clean-up work and also we've had to wait for footpaths and the surrounding area to dry out.

“Pressure washing the play equipment when the land around is saturated would only add to the flooding so we have to strike a balance.”
