INSTALLATION of the controversial Parkour site in Flackwell Heath will finally begin on Friday with the building likely to take two weeks.

It is expected that work will finally begin on the new facility this morning after builders fenced off the site today.

The director of the company involved in the project said that he expects work will take up to two weeks before it can be officially opened.

Andrew Matthews, the director of Andrew Matthews Groundwork said: “We reckon it will take a couple of weeks. We will start work properly on Friday.”

The groundwork company was contracted through another company who have been liaising with the council.

Mr Matthews said that they have installed more Parkour sites recently and they seem to be becoming more popular.

He said: “We have done a lot of Parkour sites recently, plus a lot of exercise equipment. I think they are quite big on the fitness aspect.

“We have just recently put up a Parkour facility in Guildford.”

The facility is to be built in the Recreation Ground near Straight Bit Road and - despite concerns from residents - planning permission was passed for the facility.

This new Parkour equipment comes after a BMX site was removed from the park last year.

Concerns have been raised by some residents that there is a health and safety concern with this site.

Although unable to comment on that, the builders on site did say that the highest point of the facility will be 1.9 metres.
