DOZENS of Oompa Loompas will be jumping out of a plane to mark Roald Dahl Day and raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Fundraisers will be donning orange masks and green wigs in addition to a parachute in a skydive to raise money for the Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

So far 40 jumpers have agreed to dress up as Oompa Loompas but the charity is looking to take that total past 50.

Among those taking the plunge are Hannah Summers and Ryan Gillett from Great Missenden, Morag Scott from Amersham and Jules Reynolds from Chesham.

The jump takes place on Saturday, September 13 - the popular children's author's birthday - at Sibson Airfield in Peterborough.

Anyone interested in taking part needs to raise a minimum of £500. For more information call 01494 890465 or email Katie Shuster on katies@roalddahlcharity.org or Eve Robinson on ever@roalddahlcharity.org.

The less adventurous can celebrate Roald Dahl Day and the 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the same day at the museum in Great Missenden dedicated to the author.

Prizes are up for grabs to those dressed in the best Roald Dahl character costume. Events take place at the museum, in High Street, from 11am-5pm.
