Computer glitch still causing delays on A40 London Road

ENGINEERS are still trying to correct a computer glitch at a busy traffic light junction on London Road, High Wycombe.

The lights at the retail park in Wycombe Marsh have been malfunctioning for more than a week and further tests are set to be carried out tonight.

Drivers have today reported long tailbacks at the junction – thought to be caused by problems with the timing between the lights’ phases.

The transport department at Bucks County Council said it continues to work with specialist engineers to find a solution.

And a spokesman added: “An electrical fault last night meant that tests could not be completed, and as such the tests are being re-run tonight.

“The lights are operating on their basic setting, but during peak hours are switched to an advanced setting to help manage congestion. Traffic levels are being continually monitored at this time.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the patience of road users during this period of testing.”

Well the "100 years" experience between these men doesn't seem to be paying off does it.

Paint a white circle on the junction and treat it as a roundabout, simple.

London rd always seems to flow much better when the lights don't work, and common sense and curtesy seem to prevail! Leave them off.

Sound. Why wasn't it done in the first place?

Do we want to encourage 'common sense and courtesy' when confrontation and rudeness are so much more fun - what is the point of having a blogger like ivor here if the people of HW like 'common sense and courtesy'?

Because it wouldn't have wasted a shed load of money and kept upteen "specalists" enployed, at great cost, when the damned things go wrong! It took 45 minutes at 2pm yesterday afternoon to get from Eastern street junction to the Retail park at Wycombe Marsh!

Sorry! Can spell employed, hit the wrong key! Perhaps that qualifies me to be a "specialist fixer", found the error in seconds,

The Bucks County Council Transport Alliance are useless. I have been waiting since April 2012 for them to unblock a drain, which I reported and followed up, near a GP practice where lots of elderly patients have to dodge sitting water by walking into a busy roadway.

Asking them to fix a traffic light must be beyond them.

Can't be considered to be too much of a problem as there was no one overtly working on them today (28th). It's going to be a nightmare tomorrow morning.
