Chepping Wycombe Parish Council aims to create new BMX trail

A PARISH council is bidding to buy some woodland in Flackwell Heath which it hopes could provide a BMX trail for youngsters.
Chepping Wycombe Parish Council has bid about £30,000 for Oakwood, which is in the north-east of the village, off Seymour Close.
Chairman Jeff Herschel hopes the site could contain a trail for BMX bikers and partially resolve a row over the small skate park on the Recreation Ground in Straight Bit.
The council sparked controversy in the summer by announcing plans to remove the skate ramps at the Rec, with the idea of seeking another location for a permanent facility.
This followed the results of noise surveys at the site and complaints about anti-social behaviour.
Following a backlash from parents the ramps were given a stay of execution, and though they are still due for removal the council wants to make sure it can provide a new site for youngsters.
As well as the potential BMX trail, Cllr Herschel says he also wants to provide a new skate park and the council has also been exploring the option of buying land in the south-east of the village.
Meanwhile a consultation has been launched across the parish to ask youngsters what skate and BMX facilities they would like to see.
There will be a workshop at Derehams Park Pavilion in Loudwater on Friday, November 2 at 12 noon.
Lunch will be provided but you must book a place beforehand through the council’s Facebook page, or by sending an email to office.cwpc@btconnect.com quoting ‘Skate/BMX’ and giving your postcode.

They need activates like this and more.
Otherwise they just hang on in groups on the streets or stay at home playing their Playstations, etc

I stand by what I said that 30K for this is a waste of public money that could be better spent elsewhere!
