Valley Road, Hughenden Valley
POLICE have revealed that what they thought was a suspicious incident involving a child being stopped by a car was actually passers-by trying to help.
The Free Press reported two weeks ago about an incident in Valley Road in Hughenden Valley where it was reported a nine-year-old boy was approached by a car.
The police said at the time they were treating it as a suspicious incident.
But officers have since established that the occupants of the car that approached the boy were concerned about the boy's welfare and stopped and attempted to speak to him.
Their intentions were not to cause the boy any distress, police said.
The occupants of the car were not known to the boy.
The police would like to thank the occupants of the car for making contact with the police.
Officers would also like to praise the nine-year-boy for having the presence of mind to walk away from a situation that he was not certain about and reporting it to his parents.
