Court to decide release of HS2 information Court to decide release of HS2 information

KEY information on the HS2 business case could be made public tomorrow if a court demands its release, it was claimed yesterday.

Figures relating to the West Coast Main Line could impact on the business case for the proposed HS2 railway line between London and Birmingham, Chiltern District Council leader Nick Rose said at the authority's cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

That information has so far not been released but Cllr Rose said it could be made public if a court says it should be.

He said: "One of the central planks of the HS2 case is the loading data for the West Coast Main Line. They have been very coy and reluctant to reveal it because they claim it's commercially sensitive and not in the public interest.

"That's been challenged and the application for disclosure is going to court on Thursday."

Cllr Rose added the 51m campaign group - an alliance of local authorities against the HS2 project, which Chiltern District Council is a member of - would hope to find out more about the court hearing the following day.
