Residents launch campaign group against High Heavens redevelopment Residents launch campaign group against High Heavens redevelopment

RESIDENTS are to launch a campaign against plans to build a waste transfer station in Booker – despite it already having planning permission.

A campaign group to fight the Buckinghamshire County Council-approved redevelopment of High Heavens was born during a public meeting at Booker Memorial Hall.

Keith Francis, who set up the meeting, said residents were fearful about the impact the development will have on the road and will fight for improvements to be made.

But some of the 70-odd people who attended the meeting believe they can even overturn the council’s decision to award planning permission.

Mr Francis, who was part of the Groups Against Stadium Proposals, said: “A couple of us did a mail drop around a few house just to see if there was an appetite for a fight and we were staggered by the turnout.

“People had been saying they wanted to fight due to the danger and impact it will have on the roads. The roads are ridiculous and there were some strong views at the meeting.

“A reasonable number of people realise the waste transfer station has to go somewhere and it’s too late to fight against that – but there were people who said they want to stop the scheme altogether.”

The campaign group is in its infancy stage - it does not have a name - but ten people agreed to form a committee at October’s meeting.

The group is expected to meet again this month.

Well you have my support. I just hope it isn't too little too late.

How are you going to 'get your teeth into this' - by ranting on about the Tory's?
