A CHURCH in Gerrards Cross welcomed the Bishop of Buckingham to its centenary celebrations on Sunday.

All Saints’, which is in the parish of Chalfont St Peter in Oval Way, held a special service in which the Right Rev’d Dr Alan Wilson re-dedicated its foundation stone, which is inscribed with the year 1912 to mark the founding of the church.

Reverend Nigel Rode, of All Saints', said: "In keeping with tradition of music at All Saints’ the service was enhanced with ‘Benedictus’ by William Lloyd Webber played on the violin and organ, and ‘Love bade me welcome’ by Vaughan Williams was sung by Mandy King and the choir.

"The children played their special part in the service by making huge new stones, decorated with Saints which they presented to the Bishop."

Afterwards the congregation was treated to birthday cake and a celebration lunch in the church hall.
