ANGLO-Gallic relations were strengthened in Beaconsfield at the weekend as the town’s twinning association welcomed a party of 19 tourists from Langres in north-east France.
Each visitor was paired with a member of the twinning association, while the mayor of Langres, Didier Loiseau, stayed with the mayor of Beaconsfield, Cllr Graham Corney.
The visit included a champagne reception at the town hall and trips to Windsor and the Olympic Park, while mayor Loiseau was given the honour of lighting the bonfire at the Beaconsfield fireworks display.
Beaconsfield Twinning Association is holding its annual dinner and AGM on Saturday, November 24.
The speaker will be Beaconsfield poet Dr Claire Trevien, who is an expert on Langres’s most famous son Denis Diderot.
