BUDDING codebreakers from a High Wycombe grammar school attempted to decipher codes on an historic Enigma machine.

Year nine pupils at John Hampden Grammar School were treated to a presentation from Bletchley Park experts about the machines that were to unravel German messages during World War Two.

Maths teacher Peter Hill said: β€œIt went very well, the boys got to do a spot of hands-on codebreaking with the machines – it was fascinating and the boys were very interested in how it all worked.”
