A WEST Wycombe man who was once known as the 'Poet on the line' has written his own 42-page biography which he is hoping to get published.

John Wentworth, 73, was encouraged to write down the story of his life as a Buckinghamshire man by a friend.

In long-hand he wrote his own story from the age of three to the present day. And it is not the first time he has used his creative flair.

The Free Press labelled him the Poet on the Line when he worked as a station cleaner at Gerrards Cross.

He used to make up his own poems whilst he worked there and shared them with commuters.

His new book, which was typed up by neighbour Chris, is called Ernest John Wentworth: A Buckinghamshire Man.

John has lived with his wife, Jane, in Chorley Road in West Wycombe since 1966.

He said he first saw Jane at High Wycombe College, where they were both taking German lessons.

But he said he never got to talk to her as she disappeared quickly at the end of each lesson, but then he saw her again at the Beaconsfield Club and the rest is history.

They had two children- Stephen, 40 who lives in France and is married to Natalie and has two boys aged four and seven. Their daugher Helen Harding, 42, lives in Stokenchurch with her husband Peter and two children a girl aged 12 and a boy aged seven.

He is now trying to get his work published. If you think you can help call John on 01494 447960.
