A FOAL which was abandoned on the side of the road in Iver is now recovering in Speen after being rescued by a county councillor and the police.
The eight-week-old colt foal, Theodore, was found starving and alone at the roadside with no sign of his mother.
He was rescued by police, who were helped by Buckinghamshire County Councillor Ruth Vigor-Hedderly.
He was then taken to The Horse Trust to receive the specialist care and treatment he needed.
The foal, known as Teddy, was in such a poor state when he arrived he had to be rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Veterinary College (RVC).
Against all the odds Teddy has now returned to the Horse Trust and is doing well.
Animal welfare charities across the UK are reporting an alarming increase in the number of horses, ponies and donkeys found neglected or abandoned.
County cllr and cabinet spokeswoman for Countryside, Cllr Vigor-Hedderly, said "Sadly this is not an isolated case and there are many more horses and ponies who need help."
Teddy was found on Langley Park Road in Iver on October 17. The Trust do not know who is responsible or how he came to be abandoned. If you have any information about Teddy, please call Thames Valley police on 101.
