I'm disappointed none of the independent candidates had any sort of experience for the role. Not sure this is a political vote, more a vote of trying to put someone who may have an idea of how to do the job. Which is actually impossible from looking at their experience. Whoever wins will make a mess of the job as they won't be qualified.

Excluding independents, our web poll this wek looks like it got the vote about right in terms of first and second at least
2:04pm
Our web poll prior to election day suggested about 22% turnout but even that was optimistic it appears! This is what BFP readers said on Weds...
2:03pm
Appears that the final result could be a couple of hours

Aylesbury Vale District Council, who are running the election, tells us:
"As no candidate received more than 50% of the valid first preference votes every local Returning Officer will now count the second preference votes for the candidates who are not eliminated from the contest. The remaining candidates are: Anthony STANSFELD The Conservative Party Candidate and Tim STARKEY Labour Party Candidate."
Second ballot starts at 2.30pm.

Wonder how many of these contained messages along the lines of 'none of the above'.

BFP calculates that so far Anthony Stansfeld has won
69,986 votes whilst Tim Starkey has got 53, 194

Policing minister Damian Green told ITV today: "The measure of this policy is not the turnout, it's what the police and crime commissioners achieve over the next few years.
"Millions of people voted yesterday - nobody ever voted for the chair of a police authority so there's clearly a democratic mandate that wasn't there before."
1:11pm
Apparently the record low for a national poll in peacetime is the 23% turnout for the 1999 European elections. That's according to the BBC.
Looks like this election is going to beat that!
