AN Indian restaurant in High Wycombe has been told to close while building work is carried out.

Expansion work is being completed at Bombay Palace in Crendon Street this week, and joint owner Kazi Islam told the Bucks Free Press: “While the builder was working the council wasn’t happy to keep it open....They just feel it’s not right to open the restaurant while we complete the job.”

He expects to reopen next week.

Wycombe District Council said in a statement: “Following a routine inspection on Monday, Wycombe District Council's environmental health officers closed Bombay Palace because the premises posed a risk to health.

"We are now waiting to hear from the food business operators about how and when they propose to address these risks. The premises will remain closed until such time that we are satisfied that they no longer pose a risk to public health.”
