Serviceman fears for public saftey due to speeding cars in Princes Risborough

Bucks Free Press: Serviceman fears for public saftey due to speeding cars Serviceman fears for public saftey due to speeding cars

A SERVICEMAN has raised concerns about the number of cars speeding in a residential road in Princes Risborough, with some driving more than 60 in a 30mph limit.

The member of the armed forces from RAF Halton wrote a letter to Princes Risborough Town Council, which was read on Tuesday night.

The council, who do not name people who write letters in, say they have empathy for the resident who lives in Berryfield Road.

The letter said he has a "serious concern" for himself, his family and other members of the public with the number of cars breaking the law speeding.

He said more break it than stay within it, adding he regularly witnesses cars in excess of 60mph.

He said it will end up in a tragedy of some sort.

Cllr Alan Turner said he has a great deal of empathy with him and said it happens throughout the town, but referred the resident to the police as it outside the town council's remit.

I have to ask two things: (1) how does this person know that the vehicles are doing 60mph? and, (2) why does Berryfield Road get special mention; as Wycombeite has already said, drivers speed on all the district's roads, nothing new or newsworthy there!

Looking at the location of Berryfield Raod, it's looks like people maybe using it as a cut through from the A4010.

Solution would be to make The Ave no entry from the A4010 and problem should be solved.

You are correct, people do use that as a cut through, they do that because at peak times mainly, there is so much congestion in the town because these councillors blocked off one exit when they made the high street one way, therefore there is only one major exit out of Princes Risborough, which is along New Road, so they speed along Berryfield Road, down The Avenue, and back onto the A4010, just goes to show how much common sense the councillors at PRTC have, which is not alot.

If that was Wycombe, there would speed bumps every 100yds, but seriously that should be 20mph with pinch points all along there
