'Come forward' plea in Jimmy Savile inquiry
A HOSPITAL chief has urged public and staff to come forward if they have any information regarding the Jimmy Savile investigation at Stoke Mandeville.
Claims are being investigated by police that Jimmy Savile groped young patients at Stoke Mandeville hospital where he worked as a volunteer porter and fundraiser from 1969.
At the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust board meeting on Wednesday chief executive Anne Eden said: "We are taking these allegations very very seriously indeed.
"We are encouraging the staff and the public if you have any knowledge, any information, then please do come forward whether to the trust, myself or the police who are handling this."
She said they will be conducting an internal inquiry and the safeguarding board will be ensuring that what allegedly happened in the 70s and 80s could not happen today.
There is also three police probes into Leeds General Infirmary, Broadmoor psychiatric hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Fred Hucker, Trust Board Chair, said work is being done across the whole trust.
He added: "We are dealing with the situation in the best way we can."
