STUDENTS from Buckinghamshire New University are inviting the public to a Christmas market in aid of a charity which cares for seriously ill children and their families.

The festive market, supporting The Pepper Foundation, will take place at the University’s Campus in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe, between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday, December 4, and will feature more than 35 stalls.

The stalls will be selling items including jewellery and watches, and handmade chocolates and cakes, and there will be added attractions such as sumo wrestling, a beat-the-goalkeeper competition, professional photographer, and a raffle with prizes including a two-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marlow.

Around 250 students are involved in the event and it has been organised by students studying BA (Hons) Corporate Events and Conference Management. Other students studying Business Management will be selling items on the stalls.

Second year student Pascalle Mickelsen said: “More than 250 students are pulling out all the stops to make this year’s market an even bigger success than last year’s event.

“The team are so dedicated to putting everything into this market that we have no doubt it will be one to remember.

“The Pepper Foundation is a fantastic cause to support and we would like to invite as many families along to the day as possible, so that children are at the heart of the market.

“So, we are inviting people to wrap up warm and venture out in the winter weather for a hot chocolate and a spot of Christmas shopping at Bucks New University!”

Eric Pillinger, a trustee of The Pepper Foundation, based in Tring, said: “The University’s choice of The Pepper Foundation as the beneficiary of the Christmas market is fantastic for us.

“The money students raise will help fund vital work that everyone in our local community values greatly and will help to create awareness of Pepper’s cause.”
