A DISMAYED motorist who tried to help an injured deer in the road was left fuming after other drivers beeped their horns and drove on without helping.

Jill Evans was driving from her home in Radnage on Friday to take an exam at Bucks New Uni when she saw a deer being hit by another car just before Piddington at about 12pm.

She said the driver had no way of avoiding it but was shocked to see the motorist carry on driving.

The 55-year-old said: "As the animal struggled in the road- cars continued to drive around it."

She then stopped and put her hazards on before trying to get the injured deer onto the grass verge, which she did eventually manage.

But during the ordeal cars continued to beep their horns at her, with another car hitting the deer again.

She said: "What annoyed me the most is the cars were sounding their horns at me.

"It was a big deer. The fact I was on the side with my hazards on- it could have been me that hit the deer and my car may not have been working."

One lady stopped to talk to her but otherwise no-one else stopped to help, she said.

She drove to get signal and called her husband who called the police and the RSPCA.

Mrs Evans, who is a nurse at Wycombe Hospital and who is doing part time training at the uni, said she would have liked to have had a bit of support from other drivers, instead of angry beeps, and said it did not show any spirit of the season.

She said: "But then I suppose at this time of year everyone is in a hurry to get their Christmas shopping done so they can take the kids to see Santa's reindeer.

"I managed to get to my exam on time, even though I stopped .I doubt that the people who drove past me that day will read this letter- but if anyone does - that is what was going on just before Piddington on Friday afternoon."
