THE Rotary President of Britain and Ireland took time out to visit a dementia café in Princes Risborough run by sixth formers.
John Minhinick went to the Princes Day Centre on Tuesday in Clifford Road, where he met the students from Princes Risborough Secondary School.
The pupils have started to run a Dementia Café every first Thursday morning of each month called Forget-Me-Not, which provides refreshments and activities for dementia patients at the centre.
The RIBI President was accompanied by the District Governor of Rotary, Judith Diment.
The sixth formers, who are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough, formed a school based Interact Club backed by the headteacher Peter Rowe and head of sixth form, Mark Instone.
They meet with a Rotarian every Monday lunch time and organise what charity work they want to do.
To add to this The Rotary Club is in the process of raising £25,000 towards the purchase of the Princes Centre, which is now run by a social enterprise.
The Interact Club hope to raise £500 for a Smart TV, so that popular programmes from yesteryears can be downloaded from the internet for the Day Centre clients to enjoy.
The RIBI President and District Governor were impressed by the sixth formers enthusiasm. They had a tour of the day centre before they went to the county's next Rotary venue.
